Why WordPress is no longer relevant in 2023

My opinion about WordPress as a software engineer and alternative CMSs.

Why not to choose WP in 2023.

WordPress alternatives in 2023.

I discuss about: plugins, security, maintenance and alternatives.

Here are the points from the video:

• There are better alternatives for specialised purpose:

- Courses: Teachable, Kajabi, Udemy

- E-commerce: Shopify, Squarespace, BigCommerce

- Funnels: ClickFunnels

- Presentation: Squarespace, Webflow

- Community: Skool.com, Facebook Groups

• No official support

• In my opinion only 2%-5% of the WP developers can do something great and it requires time. There are few cases where it is profitable to hire great

developers for something custom.

• Usually it is hard to maintain after the development has ended

• Old plugins which are not updated frequently because probably there are not many people who like to buy. Unlike Shopify where many users are used to buy useful and maintained plugins.

• Becomes slow after using a few plugins. There are few well written plugins that are integrated well.

• In my opinion the code base has become messy and hard to maintain because there are few ways for developers to make money and little quality

time is invested

• Few built-in options for creating something valuable. Unlike Squarespace where you can do a lot through the control panel User Interface

Easy to mess up something through code

Security isn't the best because of many custom plugins which aren't

maintained

• The control panel becomes messy after a few plugins are added

Doesn't have a good core software architecture that makes it easy to

update for the future
