Squarespace Localized Forms change with JavaScript

In 2023 Squarespace announced an update to its forms called Localized Forms. They are built using React.js and the common way of modifying the value with JavaScript is not working when the form is being submitted.
At the moment of recording this video you can still opt out and use the old Forms
